Creating theatre is like ancient alchemy: steeped in lore and mysterious
operations, and requiring daily practice. Explore the director’s process from articulating a concept, to creating a viable pitch, to executing a production.
This stimulating, hands-on directing class is for theatre-makers from all
disciplines and will focus on practical foundation work from Brecht,
Stanislavski, Boal, Lecoq, Brook, Barba, and Bogart. Scene work will address
text genres, including naturalism and heightened forms, as well as physical,
devised, and postmodern material. This class includes an actor-director lab, a
forum to connect with funding and design professionals, as well as lessons in
how to create a viable production pitch. Get the skills to move forward
creatively and professionally.
